Based on the grounds of Alder Hey Hospital, we were invited into the build phase of the Catkin Centre and Sunflower House – mental health facilities for children. As 3-storey buildings, linked via a bridge, these facilities cover a whole host of psychiatric services, from ADHD assessments to inpatient services, complete with an immersive room, sensory room, de-stimulation room, therapy garden – and beyond.
Our role extended through to the final touches, starting with our innovative take on steel framing systems, onto partitions, plastering, and suspended ceilings, then ending with the additions that make all the difference: acoustic ceiling baffles and feature metal plank ceilings. Calming features, aiding healing.
